02 Apr 2008 Robert was my platoon medic until he was killed aiding the wounded. For his actions he was awarded the Silver Star. His humor and constant smile made him a joy in our platoon. A Note from The Virtual Wall The 1st Bn, 5th Cavalry lost three men on 15 June 1966 while operating northwest of Kontum City - two medics and an infantryman. All three received the Silver Star for their actions : SP4 Thomas W. Shay, Middletown, CT, HQ Company (Silver Star); PFC Charles G. Woods, Corona, CA, B Company (Silver Star); and PFC Robert H. Carr, Beaver Falls, PA, HQ Company (Silver Star). Visit John Dennison's Medics on the Wall memorial which honors the Army Medics and Navy Corpsmen who died in Vietnam.
