Robert was my platoon medic until he was killed aiding the wounded. For his actions he was awarded the Silver Star. His humor and constant smile made him a joy in our platoon. Jeff Brown, 2nd Platoon Leader, B Company, 1/5th Cavalry, 1st Air Cavalry Division. Republic of Vietnam June 16, 1966. Robert is missed every day of my life.

A Note from The Virtual WallThe 1st Bn, 5th Cavalry lost three men on 15 June 1966 while operating northwest of Kontum City - two medics and an infantryman. All three received the Silver Star for their actions :
