I was introduced to "Double-D" at the Wall on Veteran's Day, 1999. The man who introduced us was a combat medic who had heard that the LT's father was looking for men who knew his son. Within two weeks, I found his father ... we have been friends ever since, even making a trip to the Wall together. I have talked with Doug's brother and his aunt, who both miss him terribly. I wish I could have known him...
