A Note from The Virtual WallOn 05 Oct 1968 Delta 1/28th Infantry lost ten soldiers to enemy mortar and small arms fire:
The 61st Infantry Platoon (Combat Tracker) provided dog and handler teams to work with infantry units. In this instance SP4 Meyer's tracking dog, Bruce, already had served in Vietnam for a year or more, and he survived his master. Bruce continued to serve with the 61st Combat Trackers until 1970, when he and his handler (Louis Caputo) were transfered to the 557th IPCT. |
The point-of-contact for this memorial is a comrade-in-arms, Mark Krofek mrmilo@adelphia.net 27 Nov 2002 |
