I wanted to let everyone know that you will not be forgotten. I remember when we were young we used to play basketball at Conner School in Noblesville. I still come by to see you when I come back to visit. I will join you some day, my friend, and we will visit. God bless you and your family.
A memorial from his friend, |
Mike was like a lot of us back in the late sixties, except he had a low lottery number. There are not many days that go by that I don't still think of him. Mike was the drummer in my first rock band, The Styx and Stones. The guy used to work hard! I remember still his sweat-drenched hair. Mike's parents and little brother, Ronnie (?), were great people. I felt so bad for them at Mike's funeral.
From a friend and fraternity brother, |
I just want to say that I was a member of Mike's squad and that I was with him on the day he was ambushed and killed, and that his death was quick and painless. He hadn't been with our platoon very long, less than a month, but everyone liked him and we were happy to have him in our squad. After his death, his family (his aunt I believe) sent a number of packages filled with good things to eat and that was very much appreciated. I also want to say that his unit held a reunion last summer and that Mike's name was mentioned often, and that he will always be remembered by those of us who served with him.
