Forty years ago, the end of this year, 2005, I met Doug. He had just completed Basic. If a person is fortunate, forty years is half a lifetime. In all those years, I have found no one to compare with him. What would Doug have done with his life? I know it would have been well spent ... hard work and fun, friends and family. Douglas would have made a difference. I could only hope that had he come home, I would have been some part of that life. He will always be missed, never, never, ever forgotten. It has been such a long time.
