Major Charles Penn spent the better part of his Air Force service at Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring, Texas. He was married and was a part of the Big Spring Community. He had served 26 years in the Air Force when he was accidentally killed in Vietnam. He served through World War II (pilot in B-17s; 21 months as a POW) and the Korean Conflict. He is remembered by the Big Spring Vietnam Memorial and also by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Midland, Texas. May he never be forgotten. |
